What Type Of Church Is First Presbyterian Church Of Sayreville?
First Presbyterian Church of Sayreville, NJ, is a family-friendly church with programs for children and teens, and a recognized passion for serving the community, the homeless and the hungry. When are services?
Worship is at 10:30AM every Sunday
Not Sure What To Do Once You Get Here?
Don’t worry! From the moment you enter the doors, you’ll be greeted warmly and handed a Sunday Bulletin by an Usher. The Sunday Bulletin serves as an outline of the service and contains printed congregational responses and prayers for the day. Feel free to sit anywhere, in any pew. As we gather for worship, the organ plays, inviting you to listen and prepare your hearts and minds for the message from the Pastor.
What else can I expect during Worship?
- The Pastor will open worship and share announcements.
- We will sing songs and join in responses and prayers from the bulletin.
- Midway through the service, the Children gather around for a special children’s message.
- Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of each Month, as well as Maundy Thursday, Easter, and Christmas Eve.
- Traditional music is central to the worship experience.
- The Pastor delivers a biblically-based but contemporary sermon that connects with heart of each individual.
- Towards the ends of the service, the Pastor will invite everyone to rise and share in greetings of Peace and Friendship with the other Congregants. We then return to our seats to conclude the service.
- Join us at our popular coffee fellowship time immediately following worship. Treats and coffee are served in the Christian Education Hall.
What should I wear?
First Presbyterian Church of Sayreville is not a particularly formal congregation. Casually appropriate dress is the norm.
If you have children…
At First Presbyterian of Sayreville, children of all ages are welcome and encouraged to participate in worship and Sunday School. Our worship services begin with families together for opening songs and prayers. Activity packets are available for Children to use during the service (please see an Usher).
Children and the Lord’s Supper (Communion)
In the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), all baptized Christians of any age are welcome at the Lord’s Table. In other words, a specified age or “level” of faith or understanding, is not required to be in Christ’s Presence.
First Presbyterian of Sayreville provides children of all ages instruction in the meaning of the Sacrament of Communion. With their parents’ permission, baptized children who are being nurtured and instructed in the significance of the Lord’s Supper at their level of understanding are invited to receive and share Communion.
